Washington, D.C. Trip Update
Washington, D.C. Trip Update
Attention parents of 8th graders attending the Washington, D.C. trip.  Behavior contracts and health forms were sent home with students.  Please go over the behavior contract with your child and fill out the health forms.  Please return the forms to Mr. Rowley no later than Friday May 12.  If you have any questions email Mr. Rowley at arowley@winthrop.k12.ma.us

·         April 27-28 = Grade 8 ELA

·         May 1-2 = Grade 6 & 7 ELA

·         May 16-17 = Grade 8 Math

·         May 18-19 = Grade 6 & 7 Math

·         May 22-23 = Grade 8 Science

Law Day 2017

Congratulations to all the WMS 7th graders who partipated in the 2017 Law Day Speech Competition on the importance of the 14th Amendment at the East Boston District Court.  The winners were announced on 4/14/17 and they are as follows:
  • First Place Winner: Emily Rodriguez
  • Second Place: Madelaine Tolliver
  • Third Place: Dan Tracy
Congratulations to the winners and all the other participants!

MICCA Band Competition
Winthrop Middle School Band earned silver medals at the MICCA (Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association) competition.  Congrats to Mrs. DaPaz and all of her students!

Congratulations to WMS 7th grader JULIA DICKINSON, who not only won the WMS school wide Geography Bee earlier this year, but also qualified for the state competition where she will face off against other qualifying Geography Bee winners from all over Massachusetts!  Good luck to Julia as she goes to represent WMS in the state round on March 31st, 2017!

WMS After School Clubs and Activities 
Please see the following teachers if interested in joining any of these after school clubs and activities offered at WMS!
  • Drama Club* – Ms. Daley
  • Intramural Sports* – Mr. Mallios
  • Yearbook Club* – Mrs. Dankner
  • Student Council* – Ms. Gallagher
  • Newspaper Club – Ms. Leavenworth  (no activity fee required)
* A one time activities fee of $100 required. This fee covers all clubs or activities for the entire year
